Manchester City vs Newcastle United

Manchester City hosts Newcastle for their home opener. This will be City's first game at the Etihad since winning the FA Cup, Champions League and Super Cup trophies. The Magpies are visiting the reigning champions in good spirits after thrashing Aston Villa 5-1 last weekend. However Newcastle only have two wins against City in their last 27 meetings. Meaning they will be targeting a first away win against the seven-time Premier league champions since a 2-0 League Cup triumph in October 2014.
Eddie Howe’s Magpies are playing exciting football, with new signings Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes both finding the net on their Premier League debuts for the club. The club’s main strikers Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson, who netted a total of 28 Premier League goals between the pair last season, also scored.
On the other end City are missing key players, with Kevin de Bruyne already sidelined and expected to be out for a longer period. They are also missing John Stones who picked up a muscle injury and Bernardo Silva who is still recovering from illness. After speaking to the media Pep Guardiola is still adamant that City can get all three points and overcome all hurdles as they have done in recent seasons. City are going for an unprecedented fourth successive Premier League title. So, this is undoubtedly the MATCH of the WEEKEND!
