Formula 1 Prediction | Sergio "Checo" Perez needs a strong performance at the Mexico GP

The race is heading to Mexico in the home town of Sergio Perez at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Will Sergio Perez be able to put on a show in front of his home fans?

"These two weekends [Austin and Mexico City] for me are the most important ones, they are where I have the most people coming to support me – they are the most special ones," says Sergio Perez

Not only are these two weekends important for the fans, but also for the future of Perez at Red Bull. He has to find the Perez that was able to win races if he wants to renew his contract at the end of 2024. Right now he is facing significant pressure to prove himself that he deserves to stay on at Red Bull for 2024.

Perez has spent extensive amount of time with his engineers and in the Red Bulls simulator, in order to understand where he is going wrong and where he could improve. "We’ve had a really good few days in the simulator, where we did a lot of good learning and understanding," he explains.

While he did not make it on the Podium at the race in Austin, he did manage to finish fifth, which later became fourth after Hamilton was disqualified, which shows he is on the right track with his trainings to get back in full form. This week at his home race in Mexico we will return to its more conventional schedule of three practice sessions to refine the cars before qualifying and the race.

Formula 1 Prediction | Mercedes has the pace to challenge for podium at the Mexico GP

The race in Austin brought out both food and bad news. It was very unfortunate that Hamilton was disqualified from the race and had lost his P2 position, but there still was some good news out of this race.

This was the closest Hamilton has come to victory all season, as he was hunting down Verstappen in the closing stages but running out of laps to ultimately caused him the race. But it wouldn’t have mattered anyway, as Hamilton’s Mercedes failed an FIA inspection on the plank after the race.

"Feel really positive because we've still got a few races up ahead," said Hamilton ahead of this weekend's Mexico City GP, the first of 2023's final four events in five weeks.

"We're brought upgrades and they are just chilling on what they had already. So for them to still be winning races is still really impressive and we've still got a huge amount of work to do.

Hamilton believes that they have been the closest right now they have ever been, and it is up to having the best strategy and pit stops to seal the deal. There are just a few small changes and they could win a race before the end of the season.

Formula 1 Prediction | McLaren charges on in pursuit of Ferrari for 3rd place

The race for third in the Formula 1 Constructors Championship is a battle between McLaren, Ferrari and Aston Martin. There has been some changes in the order after the race in Austin and the McLaren are now looking ahead to catch up to the Ferrari's.

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have expressed their goal to go after Aston Martin for fourth position in the constructors championship, now that they have caught them they are putting pressure on third place against the Ferrari.

While McLaren did move ahead of Aston Martin in the standings, the gap is just six points and having both Stroll and Alonso performing well in the Austin race was a good sign. This close to the season, while McLaren are looking at closing the gap to Ferrari as much as possible, it only takes one strong weekend for Aston and a poor one for their rivals to turn the whole scenario on its head again.
